Biography

The record

Osborn Nweze Umahi chairs Ohaozara Local Government Area in Ebonyi State. He took the oath of office on 1 September 2026, after winning the chairmanship on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

He was born in Ebonyi on 14 March 1998, the first son of Senator David Nweze Umahi, governor of the state from 2015 to 2023 and now Nigeria’s Minister of Works. Osborn finished his early schooling in Nigeria, left for London at fifteen, and qualified as a civil engineer at the University of Surrey. He later took a master’s degree in finance and investment management at the University of Aberdeen.

Before the election he led Brass Oil and Construction Limited as managing director, and held interests in energy, finance, and hotels. In office he has set the work as infrastructure, youth employment, and services people use every day.
